7 ways to use coffee in your makeup routine
You’ve always been advised to reduce your daily coffee consumption as its high caffeine levels are not healthy for you. However not many know that coffee has much more to offer to you than being your favorite morning wake-up call. Read on to find out how you too can reap these coffee benefits.
- Treat puffy eyes
Not many get enough sleep today with so many work deadlines and family obligations to keep up. This leads to puffy eyes and dark circles which can be reduced with coffee. Just apply the cool coffee grounds of your morning coffee to the under eye region and eyelids. Leave it on for about twenty minutes and then rinse off using cool water.
- Hair color
For better looking hair, just mix a teaspoon or two of ground coffee to a handful of your conditioner and leave it on your hair for about 5 minutes. This enhances your chestnut brown hair color.
- Reduce cellulite
Exfoliation and massage using coffee grounds can help stimulate blood flow in the body while tightening the skin. Moreover, the caffeic acid in coffee grounds make it a great exfoliator which helps boost collagen production.
- Scalp exfoliation
Not only can you use coffee grounds for exfoliating your skin, you can also use it for eliminating all the built up dead skin cells on your scalp and get a great shine to your hair. Just add 1/3 cup of ground coffee to your wet scalp and massage it in for about 60 seconds. Rinse off and follow with your usual shampoo and conditioner.
- Bright skin
Try mixing two tablespoons of organic plain yoghurt with a tablespoon of ground coffee, and apply to your washed face and leave it on for about 15 minutes. Rinse off. You find your complexion shining, glowing and looking more radiant, all because the caffeine in the coffee helps stimulate blood circulation.
- Pamper your feet
Coffee can also help soothe your weary feet. Make a coconut and coffee foot scrub by blending a cup of virgin coconut oil, two teaspoons of vanilla extract and half a cup of ground coffee. Then soak your feet in a tub of warm, soapy water for about ten minutes.
Apply a teaspoon of the scrub to the feet in a circular motion while soaking to exfoliate dead skin and then rinse your feet in warm water and pat dry. It is the moisture-locking feature of coconut oil and coffee’s rich antioxidants which help remove, and repair rough skin.
- Better circulation
Coffee helps rejuvenate the skin by increasing blood circulation to the face. Make coffee ice cubes in advance and trace your eye region and face bone structure with one of the ice cubes every morning. This helps reduce puffiness and give healthier and brighter skin.
